Red Medicine

Come see us play in a punk house basement on Sunday, August 16th in Waterloo.
A vegan potluck will precede the show.

Find Your Spirit

Friday night found us playing an outdoor festival in Brantford's downtown. Harmony Square housed musicians, performance and visual artists, and vendors all weekend long, drawing people into the city's core and promoting artistic awareness and appreciation. Thanks to our formidable Arts Block/Ford Plant friends for asking us to participate!

Territorial Pissings

We recently played a nearby tavern and were subjected to a predictable series of technical outages and sound person neglect. Not to be thwarted by such obstacles, we played hard (and slung many beers). During a discernibly quieter song, a glassy-eyed fool meandered up to Ryan's microphone and started trying to yell into it.

"You guys are too LOUD," he kept whining. "We can't TALK."

He was smoothly butted out of the way with a guitar neck; however, intoxicants and loud music had stirred up some ire in this guy. He literally kept poking his way into our song and was determined to interrupt us until he was coaxed away.

Outside the bar as we left for the evening, a different reckless drunk climbed a brick wall and fell at least 10 feet - landing flat on his back with a CRACK.

"I think it's serious," said his friend.

Partnership of Species

This film has not been getting the attention it deserves, despite having been originally released years ago. Joaquin Phoenix narrated this terrifyingly comprehensive documentary positing that humankind continually behaves in a manner that degrades, enslaves, and ultimately destroys the lives of our fellow earthlings. This film is graphic and disturbing, and can only be viewed with a solid desire to fully comprehend the images of murder within, and to change oneself. Watch it here.

"What began as a series of Public Service Announcements on spaying and neutering pets, evolved into a feature-length film on every major animal-related issue." ~ Earthlings.com

Polish Meats and Broken Glasses

According to the caterer at our show last weekend, reverberations from our first song sent a pyramid of champagne glasses smashing to the floor.
Can't say we've done that before...
Thanks to the talented photographer who captured the images above.

No Matter How Far You Drive From The City

The summer proved fruitful for us. We went on a little tour, breathed some clean air in the maritimes, and wrote loads of new songs. We'll have a new album in the works by early next year. We're in no hurry, as writing is cathartic and experimenting with new songs is invigorating. With a few new tricks up our proverbial sleeves, we'll be having more fun than ever in the new year.

Change likely awaits us next year.
Life outside of music can feel a bit stagnant, and finding new scenery may be near the top of our long 2009 to do list.

Speaking of which, yesterday American voters elected a new president.
Congratulations, our war-ravaged and economically disabled neighbours to the south.
You're in for two terms of historic changes.

Circus Lupus

Aside from toiling away at our day jobs and daydreaming about running off to a cottage in the wilderness to record and drink Mill Street and cut our feet on the rocks in Lake Huron, we've been busy.

We have a good portion of our East Coast tour booked - check myspace or our website for updated tour dates. We are looking forward to playing our songs for lots of new people and enjoying our time in the part of the country to which we feel most closely tied.

We played a sort of one-off show in Montreal last week. The show was intimate, and loud. We gorged ourselves on some overpriced vegan comfort food at Le Commensal and wandered the Quartier Latin.

Otherwise, we've been busy writing new songs in our basement while the cat listens from the stairwell.
She seems to like what we've been doing.

In Bloom

Well, spring is here! In the polluted elbow of the province we call Southern Ontario, that means above-seasonal temperatures for the bulk of the month of April, followed by a week of cold, nasty, rainy weather. We just survived spring cold/flu season as well - and Ryan will attest to the fact that this year was worse than most. The poor guy broke a 10-year flu-free streak this past week. Don't worry, though - he's all better now.

A new review was posted recently of our last full-length album - read it here.
